Imperial to Split?

Imperial Irrigation District (IID), a organization far from my heart, is facing a life-threating sensible change in operating procedures.

Assemblywoman Garcia, who represents both Imperial and Coachella Valleys is proposing to reform (in one way or another) electricity sales in the area. [Read this and this.]

The problem? Cheap power subsidizes IID farmers, and this reform would reduce those subsidies. IID is stinking mad and fighting ("for the children!"), but the pressure's on.

I have offered advice on how cross-subsidies hurt the people in Coachella. I hope that this bill turns into something good.
