Surreal Headlines...

"Lake Oroville to get longer ramp"

The existing boat ramp extends to a water surface elevation of 700 feet, which DWR projects will be reached by mid-August, putting the ramp out of commission. The new ramp will extend to 640 feet. The lake is now about 48 percent full, with a water elevation of 753 feet.
Apparently, it's important to ensure that people can get their power boats into the reservoir during a drought. What is the Department of Water Resources thinking?

Bottom Line: Some people seem to think that droughts are bad because they make it harder to water ski. How about they spend more time and money on the efficient reallocation of the scarce water we have -- instead of skiing on what little we have left?
