If you want to know what I do in my day job, read about Incentives and Mechanisms, i.e., designing mechanisms that provide the "right" incentives, so people do the "right" thing. Some places suffer from Vegas Delusions, i.e., the idea that eternal growth is compatible with the environment and good life.
Oceanic Uh-Oh -- climate change claims a its biggest victim. Farmers have been doing Regime Change for ages -- not always for the best. After they screw things up, they often ask for more subsidies. Of course, GE also likes subsidies
This little post (Pigouvian Libertarians) attracted 17 comments. Why? Because I defend a tax as libertarian-compatible. Geo-Engineering, OTOH, is stupid, and -- for those of you who didn't know -- Sachs Misses It -- Again is all about an economist who's never seen a government intervention he didn't like. What does he fail to take into account? Water and Corruption.
